Permission was given for Heard That (IRE) and Realta Liath (IRE) to wear a red hood to post.
The winner Kayce Dutton (IRE), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Southwell on 14 December 2025 where the gelding finished third of seven runners, beaten 33 ¼ lengths.
Adam Pogson’s explanation that the gelding appreciated a patient ride off a strong pace, was noted.
Kayce Dutton (IRE) was routine tested.
The Starter reported that My Bobby Dazzler (GB) was very reluctant to race before being pulled up.
Toby McCain-Mitchell, the representative of Mel Rowley and the Starter’s were interviewed and shown recordings of the start.
McCain-Mitchell explained that the gelding had shown no indications that he was going to plant prior to the flag being dropped.
He added that he elected to pull up the gelding shortly after the starters rostrum as he had lost a considerable distance and all realistic chance of being competitive.
As the gelding had also refused to race at Uttoxeter on the 5 October 2025, Mel Rowley was informed that any future similar behaviour from the gelding may result in the horse being reported to the Head Office of the British Horseracing Authority.
Following the race, Jamie Hamilton reported that Giovanni Change (FR), which was pulled up, never travelled on the final circuit.
