Permission was given for Kenzoko (FR) to wear a red hood to post.
An enquiry was held into the running and riding of Cheesy Icon (GB), which was beaten by 13 lengths and placed fifth, ridden by Shane Quinlan and trained by Mel Rowley which was initially settled at the rear of the field before pulling its way to the front and was then tenderly handled in the home straight.
The rider and the trainer were interviewed and shown recordings of the race and the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities.
The rider stated his instructions were to drop the gelding in last to try to get him to settle having failed to do so in its other starts to date which had resulted in him failing to see out the trip.
However, as he reported at Scales, Cheesy Icon (GB) had again run freely in the back straight and had towed him to the front of the field so that he was upsides the leader turning into the home straight.
Thereafter, Quinlan stated that, although Cheesy Icon (GB) continued to jump well, he was beginning to tire after his earlier exertions, so he felt the best policy was to hold the gelding together as he had no more to give, maintaining that he had achieved his best possible placing.
The trainer confirmed these instructions and that she was satisfied with the ride.
The Stewards noted their explanation.
Following the race, Lewis Saunders reported that Berkenshtaaap (IRE), placed fourth, hung left- handed, Shane Quinlan reported that Cheesy Icon (GB), unplaced, ran too free and Richard Patrick reported that Miss Galiway (FR), unplaced, made a respiratory noise.
