Gary Paul Halpin, rider of Zakhrafa trained by Kevin Prendergast, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount ran short of room in the closing stages of this race. S. Corby, rider of Ability N Delivery (GB) trained by Michael J. Browne, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount lost its action and pulled up. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Ability N Delivery (GB), trained by Michael J. Browne, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be lame on its left hind post race. The Stewards received a report from Chris Gordon, Turf Club Security Officer regarding the behaviour of Brian Nolan, trainer, in the stable yard area prior to the running of the second race. Evidence was heard from Chris Gordon, Declan O'Connor, Security Officer, Frank Clune, Security Officer and the trainer concerned. Declan O'Connor stated that as Mr Nolan approached the stable yard with his horse he reminded the trainer of his responsibilities under Notice 18 regarding bridles and chifneys. He stated that the trainer ignored his instruction and carried on into the yard. He subsequently addressed the trainer a second time in the yard and again the trainer did not comply. Frank Clune confirmed the evidence of Declan O'Connor and also stated that Mr Nolan was reminded of his responsibilities under Notice 18 on a previous occasion. Brian Nolan stated that he arrived at the races on his own with this horse today, he agreed that he did not have a bridle or a chifney on his horse but stated that he was already in the stable yard when challenged and said to the security officer that he would have a chifney the next time. He stated that he would endeavour to comply with Notice 18 in future. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards found that the trainer was in breach of Rule 13 (b) by failing to comply with a reasonable request from a racing Official. Having taken his record into account the Stewards fined the trainer ?250 and reminded him regarding his responsibilities under Notice 18 and his behaviour in the Stable Yard in future. .
