Permission was given for Spioradalta (GB) to wear a red hood to post.
An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference approximately two furlongs out, when the winner, Desert Shadow (GB), ridden by Kevin Stott interfered with SPIORADAALTA, placed second, ridden by Paul Mulrennan.
The Stewards considered that the interference had improved Desert Shadow (GB)’s placing as Stott allowed his mount to drift right-handed, causing Mulrennan to be short of room on the rail and having to take a strong check for several strides, losing both momentum and ground to be beaten a diminishing neck.
Therefore the Stewards revised the placings as follows: First – Spioradalta (GB), Second – Desert Shadow (GB), Third - Glistening Nights (FR), Fourth – Distinction (IRE).
Stott was suspended for 3 days for careless riding as he allowed his mount to drift right-handed without sufficient correction, resulting in Mulrennan having to take a strong check for several strides.
Inside the final furlong, Desert Shadow (GB), placed second, shifted quickly left-handed, causing Glistening Nights (FR), placed third, to be moved slightly off its intended line, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Desert Shadow (GB).
The performance of Time Tells All (IRE), which started favourite and finished eighth of nine runners was considered.
Declan Carroll’s explanation that the gelding ran flat having ran six days ago, was noted.
The Veterinary Officer examined the Time Tells All (IRE) during routine testing and had nothing to report.
