- Stewards Report

THE JOIN RACING TV NOW CONDITIONAL JOCKEYS' HANDICAP HURDLE RACE (CLASS 5) (Go North Cab On Target Series Qualifier) Burning It Up (IRE) was kicked by another runner at the start.
Having been examined by the Veterinary Surgeon at the start, the gelding was deemed fit to race.
On the bend leaving the back straight, So Many Roads (GB), placed fifth, clipped the heels of CK O’MARA (IRE), placed fourth.
After viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
An enquiry was held to consider interference on the bend turning into the home straight, involving So Many Roads (GB), placed fifth, ridden by Charlie Maggs, THE JEWELLER’S PET (IRE), placed third, ridden by Alan Doyle, and Burning It Up (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Dominic Hislop.
The interference was found to be accidental as having clipped heels, So Many Roads (GB) became unbalanced and stepped left-handed in a tightly packed field, causing THE JEWELLER’S PET (IRE) to be moved off its intended line, which in turn resulted in Burning It Up (IRE) becoming short of room on the rail and the rider having to take a significant check.
Page 1 Published: Friday, 13th February 2026, 15:26 An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference on the run to the line, when the winner The Coffey Boy (IRE), ridden by William Maggs, interfered with Velvet Vulcan (GB), placed second, ridden by Ben Smith.
The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved the placing of The Coffey Boy (IRE) as Velvet Vulcan (GB) had lost no momentum and was only moved marginally off its intended line, with the official distance of a head between the runners at the line.
Maggs was cautioned for careless riding as he had continued to use his whip in his left hand, when his mount was drifting right-handed on the run in, causing Velvet Vulcan (GB) to be moved marginally off its intended line.
The performance of Burning It Up (IRE), which started favourite but finished unplaced beaten 55 lengths, was considered.
N W Alexander could offer no explanation for the gelding’s performance.
The Veterinary Officer examined Burning It Up (IRE) post-race during routine testing and had nothing to report.
Following the race, Conor Rabbitt reported that Jakana (IRE), which was pulled up, was never travelling.
