The winner, Don Hollow (GER), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Wincanton on 5 December 2024 where the gelding finished sixth of nine runners, beaten by 20¾ lengths.
The representative of Dan Skelton’s explanation that Don Hollow (GER) appreciated the step up in trip from 1 mile 7 furlongs to 2 miles 4 furlongs on this occasion was noted.
The gelding was routine tested.
Following the race, Sean Bowen reported that Benassi (IRE), which started second-favourite and was pulled up, was never travelling and the Veterinary Officer examined the gelding post-race and had nothing to report.
Jonathan Burke reported that Fresh Speculation (GB), which started favourite and was pulled up, made a bad mistake at the third-last hurdle and Jonathan England reported that Haarar (GB), placed third, did not jump fluently.
The Veterinary Officer reported that San Guido (IRE), which was pulled up, finished lame on its left-fore.
