The Clerk of the Scales objected to the winner, Hierarchy (IRE), ridden by William Carver, and trained by Jamie Osborne on the grounds that the rider weighed in at 9st 4.
5lb having weighed out at the correct weight of 9st 9lb.
The Clerk of the Scales, the rider, the trainer’s representative and the rider’s valet were interviewed.
The representative explained that HEIRARCHY had been saddled in the stables on this occasion and having placed the weight cloth in the corner of the stable had subsequently failed to place the weight cloth on the horse as a consequence of the gelding being tricky to saddle.
The weight cloth was located in the stable post-race by the Equine Welfare and Integrity Officer and was identified as the correct weight cloth weighing 4.
5lb.
Hierarchy (IRE) was disqualified and the placings were revised as follows: First; WHENTEHDEALINSDONE, Second; Tyger Bay (GB), Third; Harb (GB), Fourth; Lequinto (IRE) and the trainer received a fine of £1500.
