Formscan By Mark Nunan - Seven-year-old UXMAL (4) will be making just his twelfth start here and clearly hasn’t been the easiest to keep right, but the 2024 Queen Alexandra winner has been found a good opportunity. The Galileo gelding comes into this on the back of a good run in Listed company at Limerick and won’t have any issues with easy ground. Taipan is going for three in a row in this Friday finale. He has made all in the last two renewals and could be dangerous from the front once again. Teed Up was around eight lengths in front of Galileo Dame in the amateur handicap here on Monday, but the latter has a huge pull at the weights in the renewal of rivalry.

Quotes on Counting Coup (IRE)
I have him three years and he just ran into a few little problems. We'll probably go to Galway now for a maiden hurdle, and he might go for the Apprentice Derby next Friday night and then onto Galway. He's an exciting horse.

Quotes on Taipan (FR)
I'm delighted, he hasn't run for over a year and it's great to get him back. Those conditions races are great for him. We were thinking of putting him in the amateur handicap but when he was qualified for this we decided to wait for now. I've had him ready to run for about the last six weeks but every time the ground came up too quick for him so I took him out. He just needs a little bit of an ease in the ground now in his old age. He wasn't stopping there and he'll go two miles no problem. We could have a look at the Cesarewitch and maybe the English Cesarewitch as well.

Quotes on Teed Up (IRE)
He has a serious appetite for racing and is an unbelievable horse to have in the yard. He loves it here. It might not have seemed that likely in the dip but as soon as he meets the rising ground, he grows another leg. He’s had a tough week and he could tell you what the traffic has been like coming up here this week! I’d imagine he’s earned a little break now and we can start planning for next year. Horses for courses, he loves it here and it’s a special place for the Mees. He’ll definitely target it again next year.

Quotes on Way Down South (IRE)
He won his maiden hurdle this time last year and we thought he’d progress from that, but he went backwards. . He just enjoys fences. He ran poorly in Limerick, and it was a gamble bringing him back so fast, but the cheekpieces helped, tongue-tie helped, the ground helped and dropping him back two furlongs helped. . He jumped well. Dan knows him and it does take a jockey to know him. I’m delighted and some of the owners (WDS Syndicate) are here as well.

Quotes on Galileo Dame (IRE)
she had a good run in soft ground last year and we thought that ten furlongs would suit her well. I was very pleased and looking at that you'd have to say she's a smart filly. I suppose the obvious thing now is to go into an Oaks trial of some sort. That's probably where she'll go. She's owned by a great group of lads, the Annus Mirabilis Synidcate, Sean O'Driscoll and Brian McKieran and it's exciting for them to have a real smart filly.
