In the final strides, the winner, Nicks Not Wonder (GB), edged slightly left-handed at the same time as Reams Of Love (GB), placed third, edged right-handed, causing Red Flyer (IRE), placed second, to be briefly checked, but after viewing a recording of the incident it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Nicks Not Wonder (GB).
Following the race, Trevor Whelan reported that the winner, Nicks Not Wonder (GB), hung left-handed in the closing stages.
