FormscanBy Tom Weekes - POINT LONSDALE follows an almost identical juvenile path to Ballydoyle's Classic winner Churchill and has his first Group 1 start. Impressive in the Chesham, Tyros and Futurity Stakes, he is ground-versatile, open to more progression and has a form-line with Native Trail suggesting he can beat that rival. POINT LONSDALE beat Masekala 6L at Royal Ascot, with Native Trail beating Masekala (who won a Listed race subsequently) by a head in Newmarket. Native Trail's Superlative Stakes win was nonetheless high class and goes well on quick ground. Ebro River has his first run at 7f, having won the Group 1 Phoenix Stakes. He was previously beaten in high class Group 2 races and while he probably needs a career best to win at this 7f trip, is proven at Group 1 level and is progressing. Duke De Sessa was thoroughly impressive in his soft ground maiden win last month and while taking a big step up in class, should run well. Great Max and Ultramarine are capable but should struggle to win while keen-going Anatoli steps up from a Dundalk maiden win.
