FormscanBy Tom Weekes - PASSION finished last season with a good third-placing in Ascot's British Champion Mares and Fillies Stakes and looks primed for a late-season campaign, attempting to prevent Search For A Song scoring for the third consecutive year. PASSION finished third in the Irish Oaks and fifth in this race last year but her Ascot run looked her best effort and she will improve bundles from an eye-catching reappearance, when beaten 11L, here in June. Search For A Song is chasing a famous hat-trick but this year's preparation has been different. Testing ground didn't suit in the Tattersalls Gold Cup and while today has been the target for some time, in previous years she had the benefit of a recent outing. Baron Samedi won a Belmont Group 2 in June and was fifth to Broome when contesting his first Group 1 race in the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud in July. He is now proving himself a smart stayer. Twilight Payment won the Melbourne Cup last November and while a 2.25L third in this race last year, has been beaten in four renewals in this race. Emperor Of The Sun beat Search For A Song in May, was fifth in the Ascot Gold Cup but has yet to figure at Group 1 level. Ebor winner Sonnyboyliston steps up to Group 1 company for the first time and cannot be dismissed.
