FormscanBy Michael Graham - A DECENT EXCUSE is edging up the weights without winning but is proven over further and on testing ground. He has finished runner-up in his last two outings in three mile handicap hurdles and wasn't beaten far in either race. He had Tristram Shandy a place behind him in third at Listowel. That rival appears again today and is likely to be popular after winning well for Ruby Walsh at Tipperary on Tuesday. He runs under the mandatory 4lb penalty with Walsh again in the saddle. However, A Decent Excuse should get plenty of credit for finishing in front of Tristram Shandy at Listowel and might repeat the feat today. He has been a better chaser than hurdler but should be able to pick up another win in this sphere. Glencairn View is another horse coming here on the back of a pair of second place finishes. His form doesn't look as strong though, as he was beaten eight lengths and almost five lengths in two maiden hurdles. Simiel is a potential improver having won a maiden hurdle in Clonmel.
