We had a winner here last year but it’s 50 years since Carrow Boy won here in my father’s colours. He was a very dear horse to the family,. Philip said he kept galloping. We were a little bit unlucky in Galway and we felt we would have been closer, if not beaten, Columbus. We had a little peck on landing in Galway and the same happened here today with Columbus. That’s what happens in racing and it was our turn today to get the rub of the green. Gary Bannon isn’t here today, he’s off at the sales and he’s already spent the prize-money on yearlings!. He picked out this horse and has done a fantastic job with him since. He came to us with a little issue, he had a small hole in his hoof which put a lot of people off. We saw value in him and bought him. In fairness it’s turned out very well for us and Gary had him spot on for today. He can only improve. He’ll probably get another run and then get a break because he likes that better ground. Stature-wise he’s probably not going to take heavy winter ground. He’ll probably get a little bit of a break over the winter and then we’ll target a spring campaign.

We liked him but I'd say he is still a bit immature. He is a stronger horse now though and has improved a bit. We'll enter him for the (Grade 1) four-year-old hurdle at Punchestown as he has beaten a horse rated 121 by ten lengths today, so we hope he is getting to that type of area. We were waiting for nice ground and he jumped well and was more professional today. We'll see how he is after his Punchestown race and he could come back for a late-summer, autumn campaign. On the Flat, he would want further than 1m4f but he'll have to have a break at some stage this summer too.

He was very free, but that's the type of horse he is,. We thought he would settle, but once they jumped off, Philip said he was out of control. I'd say there's no point in trying to settle him in behind horses now and he's a front-runner at this stage. Maybe he might jump better the next day and we'll step him up in grade gradually. He's a nice horse, though.

I thought turning in that he was in trouble, but he knuckled down and battled well. In fairness to him, he has a good attitude. I'm not sure where we'll go next, maybe a rated novice hurdle or something like that. It's a good problem to have. He could definitely step up in trip. It was a nice performance, he was very keen,. I feel sorry for the second there because our fella should have won his hurdle before this, but we didn’t get an opportunity to run him over hurdles. He looks better than what you should be meeting down here. It was unfortunate that we didn’t get a run into him and we saw what happened then in the Ebor, he ran too free. He was a little bit of that today as well, but he’ll learn. I think the hurdles will help him to steady up and teach him a bit more about settling and racing properly. I’ll see where I go, he has some nice Flat entries and there are novice hurdles too. I hate missing their novice hurdle year.

Her homework had been very good and we've been happy with her previous runs. It all came together today. Her bumper run is working out very well, and that was on ground which we didn't think she was a fan of. Even today, we didn't think she'd love that ground but she is progressing well. She has a nice turn of foot and the plan today was to run along the rail and to wait for gaps to appear. She went straight into the gap and appeared to have plenty in the tank at the end. It was nice to get it and I wish they were all that easy!. We'll see what rating she gets now and hopefully there'll be nice handicaps to be won with her. She can run through the summer.
