He was obviously a good two-year-old, we just had a little hold up so we ended up starting today. I'm delighted to get the season started off nicely with him. Thanks to Mick (Donohoe) for trusting me with him and hopefully he's a horse that can go forward from here. I thought he did well because I thought it set up for the horses closer to the speed. Shane had to move out to get a clear run and I thought he gave him a good ride the way the race worked out tactically. He hit the line well and I think it was a good enough performance. B.M. Coen stated that his mount leaned left inside the furlong pole. D.P. McDonogh stated that he received pressure from both sides. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards made no alteration to the judges placings and took no further action

K.J. Manning, rider of Boundless Ocean trained by J. S. Bolger, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that he got tight for room inside the last furlong

S.M. Crosse, rider of Hannibal Barca trained by Joseph Patrick O'Brien, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount rolled around in front and ducked right inside the final furlong

D.P. McDonogh, rider of Seisai trained by Joseph Patrick O'Brien, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount was tight for room in the last furlong

The Stewards interviewed B.M. Coen, rider of Lyrical Poetry, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who accepted he had used his whip excessively. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were satisfied that B.M. Coen was in breach of R10.3(g)(frequency) and having considered his record, they suspended him for 1 raceday.
