Permission was given for Diddy Man (GB) to wear a red hood to post.

Dr Richard Newland & Jamie Insole were cautioned as Great Blasket (IRE) had arrived in the Parade Ring wearing cheek pieces, rather than the declared blinkers which were then located and fitted to the gelding before going to the start.

An enquiry was held to consider interference about half a furlong out, involving the winner, Great Blasket (IRE) ridden by Elizabeth Gale and Diddy Man (GB), placed fifth, ridden by Robert Havlin.

Being a 7lb claiming apprentice, Gale was offered the opportunity to be accompanied but declined.

Gale was cautioned for careless riding as she had angled left-handed when insufficiently clear, causing the rider of Diddy Man (GB) to be moved slightly off his intended line.

The performance of Diddy Man (GB), which started second favourite and finished fifth of six runners, beaten by a distance of 4¾ lengths, was considered.

Thomas Faulkner’s explanation that the gelding was unsuited by the going, officially described as Good, which then changed following this race to Good to Firm, Good in Places and would prefer a slower surface.

Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that Al Mudhaffar (IRE), unplaced, had bled from the nose.

The Veterinary Officer further reported that Onslow Gardens (IRE), placed third, had lost both front shoes.
