It’s great. He’s a half-brother to The Long Mile, a good horse who was sadly killed in the Grand National. We bought him at the Derby Sale (for 48,000 euro),. I don’t know how strong a race it was, but you couldn’t be any happier with him. . He’s a winter horse and he’ll be a chaser too. The Long Mile never won a hurdle race but, in saying that, he was placed in a few good hurdle races. . This lad always showed plenty and he’s by the right sire too. He’s definitely one to look forward to, these are the horses you want to be getting. . He’ll probably run once more and then we’ll put him away. J P Dempsey, trainer

The Raceday Stewards enquired into the apparent improvement in form of Thankyouforthedays, trained by J.P.Dempsey, placed first, compared with his form in his three previous runs. Evidence was heard from the trainer concerned who said his was happy with his first and third runs but the second run was disappointing. He added in his opinion the drop in grade from maiden hurdles to a low grade handicap is what has brought about the apparent improvement in form. Evidence was also heard from Mr. M. Weedon, I.H.R.B. Handicapper who outlined the horse's profile and said today's run is a significant improvement on his three starts in maiden hurdles. Having considered the matter the Raceday Stewards noted the explanation of the trainer.
