I'd be good friends with Aine and I know the owners fairly well, so Jody very kindly let me put Aine on her and I told Jody we'd get her back somewhere else along the line. Aine was brilliant and got a brilliant run up the inside. That was the winning of the race. It's great for him to get his head in front because he is hard to place but always runs his race. He has been a magic horse and tries very hard. If he could go back and do what he did last season it would be great, but it's great to get a win with him anyway. I've no immediate plan, but I'd love to win a beginners chase with him. It would have to be somewhere with small fences though and I might keep that for next year when he's 12! W P Mullins, trainer

The Raceday Stewards interviewed Miss O.M. Queally, rider of The Banger Doyle, concerning her use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who stated she was just waving her whip but wasn't connecting with her mount. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that Miss O.M. Queally was in breach of R.10.3(i)(time to respond) and having considered her clean record in this regard, they suspended her for two racedays
