It was nice for him to do something, but it was a fairly weak contest. He hadn't been putting it in in chases recently so at least when others came to him today, he did enough to win and stuck his head down and battled. He has been a bit disappointing, but we got today out of him and he is cheap now (at €10,000) that he has won a race. J.G. Gilligan, rider of Villagers Cross, trained by Paul John Gilligan, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount hung left on the approach to the second last hurdle

The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident on the run to the second last involving You Done Well, ridden by Brian Barry, Villagers Cross, ridden by J.G. Gilligan, and Halsafari, ridden by B. Hayes where it appeared interference may have occurred. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Brian Barry said he got pressure from the inside. J.G. Gilligan said his mount hung left and he made his best effort to keep him straight. B. Hayes said he received pressure from his inside and was doing his best to keep his mount inside the wing of the hurdle

Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were of the opinion that although J.G. Gilligan had caused interference he had also taken reasonable steps to avoid causing the interference so they took no further action.

A hurdle for four years old and upwards to be claimed for #15,000 or less (Minimum claiming price #5,000)
