we’re delighted with Castle Field Boy as we didn’t think he’d be fit enough. On his first run back, after the length of time he was off and on ground that’s as soft as it is, I did worry. I suppose he did something similar when Michael O’Sullivan won on him in Clonmel off a good break, so maybe I should have known better. I thought Eoin was very good on him, as going down Ballyhack when the other horse kicked, I was saying to myself that I hoped he didn’t go and follow him. Eoin had the sense to let him on and filled him up every step of the way. He had a bit of a stop-start season last season and we didn’t get a clear run with him but that’s a good start this season and it’ll do his confidence the world of good. Patrick T Foley, trainer

The Raceday Stewards granted a request from L. P. Cusack. trainer of The Dabbler, for an additional ten minutes to present his charge for identification by an IHRB Official in accordance with the provisions of Rule 90

The Raceday Stewards interviewed Kevin A Murphy, rider of Well Del, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who accepted that he was in breach of the regulation and apologised for his actions. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that Kevin A. Murphy was in breach of Regulation 10.3.g (excessive frequency) and having considered his record in this regard (second offence) the Raceday Stewards suspended Kevin A Murphy for five racedays

P.K. Donovan, rider of Ballagh Star, trained by Mrs. Y. Dunleavy, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount did not handle todays going.
