FormscanBy Michael Graham - BONNY KATE, who is a full sister to Mala Beach, ticks a lot of boxes in this contest. She made all over two and a half miles in a Gowran Park maiden hurdle and afterwards Noel Meade commented that she wants three miles. If similar front-running tactics are employed she should make it a real test and will be hard to pass. With Ger Fox claiming 5lbs, two of her main rivals (Annamatopoeia and What Lies Ahead) must give her 5lbs. What Lies Ahead kept on well to win in Gowran by a neck in her second appearance over hurdles. You would think more would be needed to trouble Bonny Kate, but she does have victories on the flat and in a bumper to her name so knows how to get the job done. This trip might be on the sharp side for Annamatopoeia who was seen to good effect over two six at Thurles in November. Golan Road won nicely in Leopardstown, but didn't trouble the judge in her two subsequent runs albeit one being in a Grade Three novice hurdle.
