Attrition gets Sandown entry

Trainer Mouse Morris has entered War Of Attrition for Saturday's Totesport.com Masters Handicap Chase over 3m½f at Sandown and is keen to to run the former Gold Cup winner War Of Attrition over fences again before a tilt at the John Smith's Grand National.

The 11yo gelding is among 33 entries for the Totesport.com Masters Handicap Chase over 3m½f on Saturday but Morris will be assessing conditions before venturing across the Irish Sea.

He said: "We decided to enter him for the Sandown race and we'll see later in the week what weight he has and have a closer look at the weather before deciding if he travels or not."

War Of Attrition, who could run in the Ladbrokes World Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival, has recently been plying his trade over hurdles and landed the Grade 2 Alo Duffin Memorial Galmoy Hurdle on his most recent start. Morris plans to stick to hurdles if the Sandown trip is aborted.

He added: "I'd like to get another run into him over fences, but if we don't travel he'll run in the Boyne Hurdle at Navan on February 14 instead."
