Baby Mix ran his rivals ragged in the Download William Hill From The App-Store Adonis Grade 2, Juvenile Hurdle at Kempton this afternoon.
Tom George's charge had been an electric winner on his hurdling debut at Cheltenham only to flop at the same track next time.
However he was a different proposition under a more positive ride this time and turning for home he had his rivals at full stretch.
There was a brief moment when Sadler's Risk threatened to close him down after the final hurdle but the 4-1 winner picked up well again when Paddy Brennan asked him to, winning by two lengths.
Dark And Dangerous, who like the runner-up was receiving three pounds from the winner, was 12 lengths back in third while Dildar, beaten at the time, unseated Ruby Walsh at the last.
Stan James subsequently cut the winner to 9/2 favourite for the JCB Triumph Hurdle.
Brennan said: "His jumping was a lot better and I just let him get on with it. He made one little mistake, but I was very happy with him. We'll enjoy this and then look forward to Cheltenham."
Winning trainer Tom George added: "I think it was a combination of things last time - he was too keen, he didn't settle, and his jumping went to pieces.
"We've really just gone back to basics with him. He seems much happier at home and I guess he's got back in the betting for Cheltenham now.
"Good ground there would be fine, but I don't think he'll mind what it's like. We are just looking forward to March."
Philip Hobbs, trainer of runner-up Sadler's Risk, said: "We came here hoping to win, so it was a bit disappointing, but he ran a good race and hopefully Cheltenham will suit him better.
