Cape Tribulation (14/1) won the Pertemps Final under Denis O'Regan at the Cheltenham Festival on Thursday.
Malcolm Jefferson's eight-year-old, advised at 18/1 by our value bet tipster Ben Linfoot, cruised through the contest under and took it up jumping the last.
Catch Me (14/1) had also travelled well throughout but couldn't quite match the winner up the hill who was three-quarters-of-a-length clear at the line.
Cantlow (33/1) was third with Houblon Des Obeaux (33/1) fourth.
O'Regan said: "It's great to have a winner here - I haven't had one for a long time.
"He's a great little horse. Malcolm Jefferson has done a great job.
"He had a nice little run at Haydock the last day when he finished fourth and it's a great training performance to get him here in this kind of form.
"I suppose I'm happy to ride a winner for the north."
Winning owner David Abell said: "It's amazing for a small trainer to have a winner here, usually the big trainers clean up.
"He won a Grade Two by 20 lengths but it's been downhill ever since.
"We put him back over hurdles and it seems to have worked.
"Malcolm always said he was really good."
