Emmet Mullins ruled out of Cheltenham

Talented conditional jockey Emmet Mullins will miss out on next week's Cheltenham Festival after confirmation he fractured two ribs in a fall at Naas on Wednesday.

The highly-rated youngster sustained the injury when falling from Mystic Mayfly in a two-mile maiden hurdle.

It is a big blow for Mullins, whose rides were due to include Quiscover Fontaine in the Arkle Trophy.

"I've fractured two ribs and unfortunately that means I'm going to have to miss Cheltenham," said Mullins.

"It's obviously very disappointing but these things happen and there is nothing we can do about it.

"I'll still be heading over to Cheltenham and hopefully I can be back riding at Punchestown next month."
