Fallon to ride in Cheltenham Bumper

Kieren Fallon, who rode Refinement to take fourth spot in the 2005 renewal of the Champion Bumper, will again be in action at the National Hunt Festival following the news that Spancilhill, Co. Clare trainer Noel Glynn has booked the six-time champion jockey to ride his horse, Old McDonald, in this year's contest.

A wide-margin winner of a bumper when ridden by Barry Geraghty at Ludlow before Christmas, Old McDonald (a 40/1 chance with bet365) has his chance in the Weatherbys-backed Grade 1 two-miler and the booking of Fallon for the five-year-old son of King's Theatre is sure to create plenty of interest.

Durra House-based Glynn confirmed: "I have secured the services of Kieren and I am delighted with that. My horse has been working very well of late and goes there with a really good chance. The fact that Kieren comes from just up the road from me in Ballinruan makes it even better and, when it comes to riding a finish, he will surely have a good bit up his sleeve. He is currently in Dubai, but has assured me he will be available for the final race on day two and is really looking forward to it."
