Maguire Fractures Ribs In Cheltenham Fall

Amateur rider Finny Maguire who was taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol yesterday following a fall at Cheltenham has fractured ribs and a partially collapsed lung.
Maguire who was towards the head of the field when his mount Whisperinthebreeze fell at the 14th fence in the concluding National Hunt Chase is stable in hospital and will be discharged in the coming days according to Dr Jennifer Pugh the Senior Medical Officer of Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board.
Ballyward trained by Willie Mullins which also fell in the National Hunt Chase sustained an injury and it was very sadly determined by the racecourse vets that it was necessary to euthanize him on welfare grounds.
