Law lords it on handicap debut
Above The Law ran out a comprehensive winner of the apprentice handicap at Dundalk for trainer Andrew Oliver. Fri 03rd May
He won well. That's his third run of the week and of course he ran at Navan last night. There's two ways of riding him. Getting a front run or holding him up. Sean gave him a great ride. He jumped well for him and he's a tough campaigner. Those sprinters . you could run them every day of the week and get a different result.
A Oliver
That's great he has been a good servant. He likes that sort of ground. We added the blinkers as he as getting a bit clever and the claim was a big help.
A Oliver
Conor gave him a great ride. He disappointed here last week when he got very worked up having looked an improving horse last year for which he was hit hard by the handicapper. He was off for a while then before coming back fresh before Christmas and you'd allow him that. We tried different tactics today and we put a hood on him to settle him. I said to Conor to let the horse fill himself up with confidence. It was a rated race and it was a toss of a coin as to whether we'd run. He was wrong on handicap ratings but you've got to take the opportunities when they're there.
A Oliver
.I was a bit afraid of the bounce factor as it was his third run in just over a week, plus he's also a horse that looks like he wants better ground,.
A Oliver
He did that well and Sam gave him a nice ride. We'll see how he progresses,. He's got speed and is a horse that just met with a few setbacks last year. We've treated him with kid-gloves as we wanted him to come to himself.
A Oliver
