Caduceus proves tough customer in bumper
Caduceus, winner of a Donore point-to-point, made a winning debut 'under rules' when claiming the concluding bumper at Punchestown. Thu 15th Oct
I thought he was a good horse one time, and he looked well handicapped today although he had lost his way. He was cantering when he burst in Wexford last time but he hasn't burst either before or since. He'll stay handicap chasing and he'll be better on better ground. I quietly fancied him today but you couldn't back him.
P Hughes
He'd keep going all day - there's definitely no need to do a test on him for a speed gene! He is a nice horse from a great old family - the Carrigeens (he is a half-brother to that good mare, Carrigeen Kalmia). I don't think we need to step him up in trip yet but hopefully he'll be a good three mile chaser in time (he's already won a point-to-point).
P Hughes
He's tough and being from the Carrigeen family is a chaser out and out,. He'll go hurdling shortly, probably over 2m4f as he's an out and out stayer.
P Hughes
