Lyons and Keane double up with Specter
Ger Lyons and Colin Keane recorded a quick double at Bellewstown this evening when Harvey Specter landed an on-course gamble. Fri 01st Jul
He was due a win, was very consistent all last year but didn't get his head in front,. He got a great ride there and the starter was a help too as he put me on the list to go in late; that helped as he was losing ground at the start last year and possibly cost him a win. He came on from his run the last day and while I was a little bit worried about the ground, he did run well in Dundalk during the winter. He is a well exposed horse and we'll bide our time before running him back at another country meeting.
R Donohoe
He had been running into a bit of form lately and toughed it out well there. Denis was very good on him as he is a fairly highly strung horse and got him settled and managed him well,. It was Denis' first winner for me and he rides very well and is strong for an apprentice. Paul Sweeney, from Letterkenny, has a half-share in him with me and he is with me a good while and am delighted for him to get his winner.
R Donohoe
At Down Royal (finished sixth over ten furlongs) we felt he didn't stay. He travelled well until around a furlong and a half out and Gary (Carroll) said to drop him back,. This place is lucky for us and he got a lovely run through. He relished the trip and is very genuine. He's a nice big, scopey horse and will do a good job for someone else in October.
