Mullins four out of four so far
Willie Mullins brought up his fourth winner on the day from four races (two at Punchestown and two in Cork) as French import Valseur Lido went into many a notebook in Cork. Sun 17th Nov
it was a super ride and he had been working very well. He's new to the yard so you don't really know but he did a lovely piece of work the other day. In that piece of work he just showed a gear that a real good three miler may not necessarily have. I'll speak to Michael and Eddie (O'Leary) and see what we'll do for the future. We offered the ride to Ruby and he came back and said he wanted to ride him. I wouldn't imagine he’d drop back in trip but he's new to me and Michael, Eddie (O’Leary) and Ruby know more about him.
Henry De Bromhead
it's nice to have a nice reserve and for a team like Gigginstown to have three runners (Wounded Warrior ran for trainer Noel Meade) in one race. He (Valseur Lido) probably just preferred that ground better than Don Poli, who it was maybe too fast for. I think Don Poli wants a longer trip - the Gold Cup is a fair long trip with the pace they go and this fella (Valseur Lido) could go anywhere also. I've always thought he was a fair horse and he's not too bad on his day. He mightn't have the same constitution as Don Poli but he's a nice horse to have and for Gigginstown to have.
W P Mullins
He jumped well and for his second time over fences was very clever. He keeps doing more than I think he's able to do.
W P Mullins
two-and-a-half miles was no problem to him and we'll probably have a look at the Drinmore now. Bryan (Cooper) was very happy with him so I'm happy.
W P Mullins
That was good improvement. I think it was a better race than we thought it would be,. It was a good ride by Davy . he bided his time. I love the battling qualities of the horse and think he should probably get another half mile. He's always been a brilliant jumper. He pulled out a lot today that he didn't show at Cheltenham but that was maybe the quality of the race. He'll head to Punchestown. He'll be entered in everything and could go any trip but if the ground got better he could go longer. Wicklow Brave was disappointing and probably Cheltenham took its toll. Maybe City Slicker didn't like the hood . there is something bothering him.
W P Mullins
