Bobs ends the wait for Henderson & Geraghty
Bobs Worth landed a huge gamble to end a frustrating run for Nicky Henderson and Barry Geraghty at the 2011 Cheltenham Festival in the Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle.
The victorious Bob Back gelding was always looking good and he had too many guns at the business end for his stable companion Mossley. Jack Doyle finished third on Emma Lavelle's Court In Motion.
Geraghty said: "He was my last banker at the meeting but all the ones before have given me great rides - all running well. Myself and my brother bought this fellow as a yearling and we sold him to Nicky as a four-year-old in Doncaster."
Henderson, who saddled four seconds on Tuesday, added of the winner: "The owner took a bit of convincing to go for this race rather than the Neptune on Wednesday but all he does is stay - he's an out-and-out three-miler.
"Tuesday was like purgatory. It has taken a while but thankfully we have got one on the board.
"I feel desperately sorry for Michael Buckley (owner of Mossley) who had two seconds (Spirit Son and Finian's Rainbow) on Tuesday and lost a horse yesterday (Lush Life), it's awful but his horse has run a blinder and been beaten by one of our own."
Buckley said: "He's only five and the winner is six, and I think that makes a big difference.
"The other horse is just a bit more grown up than ours.
"I shouldn't imagine he'd run again this season, and we'll come back novice chasing."
Emma Lavelle, trainer of Court In Motion, said: "It would have been great to have won but he's run a blinder to finish third.
"On quicker ground he just lacks that change of gear.
"He galloped all the way to the line and I can't wait to send him chasing next year."
