Calgary Waits For Cheltenham Date

Henrietta Knight's next great hope Calgary Bay is not likely to be seen again until the Cheltenham Festival.

No official decision has been made as to whether the gelding will contest the Anglo Irish Bank Supreme Novices' Hurdle or the five furlong-longer Ballymore Properties Novices' Hurdle, although bookmakers only quote him in the former.

After an auspicious victory at Cheltenham in December, Calgary Bay was well beaten by Breedsbreeze and Deep Purple when stepped up in class for the Tolworth Hurdle.

Knight said: 'He will be entered for both of the novice events at Cheltenham and will probably not run before then.

'He's in very good form. He was one of the youngest horses in the Tolworth and still quite immature. He will also be better on better ground.'
