Mail De Bievre has been supplemented for the Sportingbet Queen Mother Champion Chase at the Cheltenham Festival on Wednesday.

The eight-year-old was a useful performer in France and made a pleasing start for new trainer Tom George when fifth in the Betfair Denman Chase on his British debut.

He raced very keenly over three miles that day and George believes the two-mile trip will be in Mail De Bievre's favour.

The Slad handler tweeted: "Mail De Bievre has been supplemented for the Champion Chase.

"The drop back in trip should be to his advantage, making use of his long stride and jumping. He has delighted us with his work since his reappearance at Newbury last month."

Connections of Mail De Bievre paid £17,500 to add him to the race and he is one of 10 horses confirmed for the two-mile championship, with Nicky Henderson's Sprinter Sacre topping the list.

Unbeaten in seven chase starts to date, he is considered by many to be a Festival banker after winning the Tingle Creek and Victor Chandler Chases on his only two starts this term.

Last year's winner Finian's Rainbow is also still in the hunt for Henderson, as is the 2011 hero Sizing Europe.

However, trainer Henry de Bromhead still has the option of Thursday's longer Ryanair Chase for his stable star, with Colin Tizzard in the same situation with Cue Card.

Paul Nicholls' Sanctuaire was well beaten in the Tingle Creek but he could try his luck against Sprinter Sacre once again, while Somersby is set to represent Mick Channon.

The Philip Hobbs-trained Wishfull Thinking, Richard Rowe's Tataniano and the Noel Meade-trained Realt Dubh complete the list of possible runners.
