Weary punters feeling the pinch at Cheltenham

The bookmakers continue to have the upper hand at Cheltenham and while the winner Saldatino was well supported in the Triumph Hurdle, one of the largest recorded bets in that race was one of £10,000 each way on the third placed Alaivan at 5/1, while Pittoni (£5,000 each way) was also well supported.

Trade was quiet in the County Hurdle, but Tell Massini attracted two £4,000 bets at 5/1 and 9/2 respectively in the Albert Bartlett.

But the money came for Kauto Star and one rails bookmaker stood the favourite to lose over £100,000 in the Gold Cup.

Some of the recorded bets taken on the ten year old include an £8,000 to win £10,000 (twice) and two wagers of £5,000 to win £4,000.
