- Carberry for Oscar Rebel
Carberry for Oscar Rebel
Oscar Rebel will have the services of Paul Carberry when she lines up in the Grade Two David Nicholson Mares' Hurdle at Cheltenham on Tuesday.
The seven-year-old won three times in the spring last year and her trainer was delighted with her recent second-place to smart stayer Catch Me at Navan.
Trainer Liam Burke believes there will be further improvement to come from that run and is delighted to have secured the services of Carberry to ride his charge in the concluding race on the opening day of the Festival.
"It was a great run behind Catch Me last time and I was not really happy with her going into that race as she had a setback not long before," said Burke.
"She has been running in testing ground but I don't think that is important for her as she was at her best in the spring on decent ground last year.
"Obviously if it is on the good side then they might just get away from her a bit but she is a tough mare and will be staying on up the hill.
"It looks a good race with Chomba Womba in there and Willie Mullins' mare (Quevega) looked very good the last day, so we will see.
"You can only be hopeful she can run into a place as she doesn't show anything at home but she seems to show it on the track.
"It was a good run the last day, she's tough and she won't give up.
"Paul Carberry is due to ride her all being well and he has won on her before. He has plenty of experience round Cheltenham obviously, and he will have the patience to sit and wait."
