Flaxen Flare (25/1) romped to success in the Fred Winter Juvenile Handicap Hurdle from two Paul Nicholls-trained runners.

Gordon Elliott's charge cruised throughout the contest and tanked his way into the lead turning for home, before producing an accurate leap at the last and winning unchallenged.

Caid Du Berlais (20/1) came from a long way back to take second under Harry Derham, overtaking stable companion Ptit Zig (22/1) on the run-in.

The first three were well clear of the remainder, led home by Kim Bailey's Milord (16/1).

Elliott said: "When we bought him we thought he would be a horse for the big days, and if he never wins again he doesn't owe us anything.

"He got there too soon, and I was panicking a bit, but we put the blinkers on him because he's been a bit lairy.

"He'll go dual-purpose now, and he's one to run at some of the nice Flat festivals.

"This has been a team effort and we are delighted."
