Kauto heads 27 Gold Cup entries
Kauto Star and Denman have frightened away some of the opposition for this year's totesport Cheltenham Gold Cup after just 27 entries were announced today for the blue riband event, the smallest number in recent years.
Paul Nicholls has six possibles at this stage, with What A Friend, My Will, Taranis and Tricky Trickster also part of an impressive Ditcheat team.
There are eight Irish-trained entries with Dessie Hughes numerically holding the strongest challenge with Schindlers Hunt, In Compliance and Rare Bob.
Last year's RSA Chase winner Cooldine is the shortest price of the Irish contingent, while trainer Willie Mullins has also entered Glencove Marina.
Noel Meade is another double-handed with Aran Concerto and Casey Jones, while the Jim Dreaper-trained Notre Pere is also among the entries.
Last year's Ryanair Chase winner Imperial Commander looks the main threat to the 'big two' in the market, while Madison Du Berlais, Carruthers, Albertas Run, Money Trix and Calgary Bay are other notable entries.
