Cian Collins is taking the same route back to the Grand Annual at Cheltenham with Jazzy Matty

The Doctor Dino gelding gave Collins a career highlight when winning the two mile handicap chase at the Festival last year.

We’ve taken the same route as last year and ran him in the same hurdle race at Thurles. He runs well fresh and will go straight to Cheltenham for the Grand Annual.

Dual Festival winner targets Grand Annual repeat

It was a second Cheltenham success for Jazzy Matty, who had also won the Boodles Juvenile Handicap Hurdle for Gordon Elliott back in 2023.

The seven-year-old has had two spins over hurdles this season and was sixth in a handicap event at Thurles recently, the same race he used as a prep before last year’s win at Prestbury Park.

Collins pleased with Jazzy Matty's preparation

“We’re very happy with him and he’s in great form. I’d like the ground to dry out for him for Cheltenham,” said Collins.

“We’ve taken the same route as last year and ran him in the same hurdle race at Thurles. He runs well fresh and will go straight to Cheltenham for the Grand Annual.”
