Champion trainer Willie Mullins completed a Naas treble today, completing the feat with Argento Boy (5/2f) in the Galopin Des Champs-silks, in the Grade 3 Finlay Ford At Naas Novice Chase.
Ridden by Paul Townend in Audrey Turley’s colours, Argento Boy was held up in rear in the eight-runner race and having challenged early in the home straight, battled well for a 2.5 lengths win over Bossofthebrownies .
Mullins’ earlier winners were the Danny Mullins-partnered Kai Lung and the Patrick Mullins-steered impressive debutante Love Sign D'aunou and following his treble, assistant David Casey said “that was good and Argento Boy kept galloping well.
“Paul said he enjoys those extreme distances and the ground wasn’t an issue. He said he travels better, and attacks his fences better than he did hurdles. He didn’t have much respect for hurdles.
“He’s improving away and if we can keep him on the right track it will be great. He’ll probably be entered in all the chases at Cheltenham.
“I said to Paul that the Irish National might be a race for him but we’ll see. All those long distance staying races are options.”
