Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle contender Streets Of Doyen remains on track for the Cheltenham Festival stamina test on March 19th.
A general 25/1 chance for the three miler, John McConnell’s seven-year-old limbered up for his big assignment at Naas last Sunday, in the Grade Two Paddy Power Betting Shop Novice Hurdle.
Over an inadequate near two mile trip then, the McConnell runner, already a decent servant to owner Caroline Ahearn with five successes, was unsurprisingly never able to make his presence felt.
The 14/1 shot finished a fifteen length sixth of seven behind impressive winner Echoes In Rain, a reasonable effort all things considered on his comeback after a Cheltenham win in October.
“He came out of the race great. He took it very well and we were happy with the run,” said McConnell.
“He was just on his head the whole way but we thought he kept at it well and it was a nice prep for Cheltenham.
“He's in good nick and we're still on target anyway. He jumped very well, we were happy with that.”
