Sonoran on a proper track you ran ride him cold and let him do that, and that’s the right thing for him. If he does too much too soon you can’t ride him like that. When he gets there, he tends to lean a bit left. Both my horses ran their races and (third-placed) Daler’s turn will come as well, as he’s been very consistent this year. |

Amiata He parks when he gets to the front. He’s a fine horse and the last day left him right. He will go to the Champions Weekend (Bold Lad Handicap) now because it is the obvious race, but he's not good enough at three for that sort of competition. We were always training him to be that sort of horse for his owner at four and five. You can see him physically growing. He's not ready for the 'big-time' yet. He'd have to (be ready) at four with a rating like that. You don't have to over-face him this year and these types of races will suit him. If he didn't go to Champions Weekend, there's a 100 (grade) race back here and he would probably go there. I’m delighted for the owners. |

This That I’m delighted, but I don't agree with optional claimers. Would he have been in the claimer if he was to be claimed? No, he wouldn't. I have taken a chance as has the second and I think the third (Jezzie Bea). We don't have enough claimers, and I don't think we need them (optional claimers) in this country. I need a claimer every week because people will buy our horses, and I believe in them. The rules allowed me in today, so I took a punt because the maidens are so hot. We found his trip and I don't think the handicapper has missed him - he normally has a grasp of them. I'd like to think that's (nursery) where we will aim - aim as low as we are allowed to aim. I think the point of the story today is, I don't agree with optional claimers and I'd like to know who brought them in. I certainly didn't know about them. I don't think we need them in this country. |

Camino Lad I just hope Dylan (Browne McMonagle) is alright - you can ride all the big winners you want and then this is what happens. Hopefully, he is alright. You don't like seeing that (fall). I genuinely thought I was second, I obviously need to go to Specsavers! Johnny (Murtagh) said 'I don't know' and I said, 'Don't be silly, I'm second and beaten a head. I said I would have a score with him. I would have been happy to pay the score!. Great ride from him. He really is a backend four-year-old, not a three-year-old, and he's not a miler. I just took a gamble because it was horses rated such and a median type of maiden to put him in, and he's game. Colin wanted headgear on him and we put the headgear on him and it worked - everything worked. We are lucky around here. |

Suzie Songs Suzie Songs has been a project. Last year, her only bad race was in the Moyglare but she was running away and doing everything too quick. She has grown and while her work hasn’t been showing us that, she is doing things right now. She is only doing what we expect her to do, although we didn’t think we’d ever get her back to this level. We’ll talk to Colin, keep her to seven (furlongs) and I think the ground is important for her. They are going lickety-split here today, which plays to her strengths, but we’re slowly getting her back to her best - not that we will ever get her back to where she was. |
