Daonethatgotaway I’m delighted Reese was able to ride a (first) winner for me, as he is apprenticed to me but has ridden winners for plenty others. That's his first double and he gave that horse a great ride, and knows him inside out. The owners (Up The Blues Syndicate) are a great bunch of lads and they love it. We have been unlucky with him, though, so the horse deserves it more than anything else. We were finishing second and third, and second and third, and had a few hard luck stories. Every time he was finishing placed, he was getting raised a pound or two so we said we would try something different and tried him over a mile and a-quarter the last day. He is versatile, but that is his grade. He has won on soft ground as well, so we don't know where we are going to go. As long as he stays running like that, we'll stay going. As long as he stays enjoying it, we will stay going. If he tells us that he has enough, we will pull the plug and give him a break and freshen him up and come again. |

Keep Twisting Niamh was at the sales and she wanted to buy something to ride and she bought her very cheaply as a foal. It was always her plan to bring her in and race her. She hasn’t done a whole lot of galloping and you can see that today as she was very green. Niamh was determined and the mare knuckled down for her. I’d say she has a pretty big engine. We were surprised because Niamh owns her herself and she hasn’t done a whole lot of galloping, she did one gallop before on grass. They pulled well clear of the third horse there and she could be something very good and something to look forward to. We’re known to sell horses at home too, so she could be for sale. Niamh is a proper amateur and she did well to get her up on the line. |
