Formscan By Tom Weekes - SAUNTON SURF ran well at today’s course in May and should benefit from that chasing debut. Winner of her initial point-to-point and bumper back in 2023, the selection has largely frustrated since but nonetheless has shown form and a reproduction of her recent effort would give her every chance at today’s longer distance. Tropical Image’s rating has fallen 4lb following her recent Listowel runner-up effort in handicap company and while she has more on her plate here, is helped by receiving a mares’ allowance in this restricted race. Anodandawink disappointed at Kilbeggan while Schiehallion and Coppola were each pulled up on their latest runs.

A nice performance. We always thought he was a good horse. He just had a wee slight hiccup last year, so we gave him a year off. His comeback run (sixth in Downpatrick) was quite good when he made the running and just got tired the last 50 yards. Today worked out fine, Caragh was good on him. Caragh rides a lot of work for us and, a small team like us, we have to repay the people that are good to you. He has schooled over fences and we will probably put him over fences next. He would be a nice horse to go to England with - Willie (Anderson, owner) likes a weekend away in England. He loves the good ground.

last year, I left here deflated when getting out of jail with just one big-priced winner (250/1) and while loads ran ok, it is a funny game as the only currency is winners. At the back end of last year we didn’t have the string of horses we wanted and it was one-thing-after-another which was going wrong. We worked hard at getting quality young horses though and got back rolling in the spring, after going nine months without a win. A month ago, I said we had savage depth with some lovely handicappers, maiden horses and unraced ones and it was the best team we ever had. I dreamed of having six winners but would have settled for three, so this is phenomenal.
