We ran him in Galway in October and it’s usually bottomless there but I ran three horses there and they all came back jarred. I ran him back in Leopardstown and the ground was grand for horses that want good ground, but he just didn’t like it, minded himself and pulled himself up. Last year we had a couple of horses, him and Hgranca De Thaix, that were never right. The way that he’s been working at home I was expecting a big run from him today. All we needed was the ground. He’d stay any trip. I’ll probably enter him for the Midlands National. He’s going to get 10lb for that so that would make him 135 and he’d probably get in off bottom weight. We are going to run out of places for soft ground fairly soon. I might stick him in the Leinster National as well, that closes next week. He could be one for the Welsh National next year. Finny gave him an unbelievable ride, he got him into some rhythm. It’s great to have him in the yard, Sean rides most of them but we try to give Finny as many chances as we can. The Raceday Stewards interviewed Mr F. Maguire, rider of My Immortal, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who accepted that he was in breach of the Regulation and apologised for his actions. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that Mr F. Maguire was in breach of Regulation 10.3.g (excessive frequency) and having considered his record in this regard (first offence) the Raceday Stewards suspended Mr F. Maguire for two racedays

The Raceday Stewards requested a report from Barry Connell, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of My Immortal, placed first, as compared with its recent form. Barry Connell stated that the return to deep ground had helped to bring about the apparent improvement in form. Having considered the report the Raceday Stewards noted the content of the report

The Raceday Stewards reviewed an incident on the turn for home involving Patter Merchant, ridden by Josh Williamson, unplaced, and Built By Ballymore, ridden by R.A. Doyle, placed third, where it appeared there was contact between the two. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the matter, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that no further action was warranted

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Lucky Lyreen, trained by Gordon Elliott, at the request of the Raceday Stewards and reported the animal to have grazes to the caudal left hind above the fetlock and also to the right fore coronet but to be otherwise post race normal.

An extended handicap steeplechase for five years old and upwards that have run at least four times in steeplechases up to and including 1st February 2026
Penalties - Winner of a steeplechase or steeplechases after calculation of the handicap shall carry any penalty or penalties which may be allotted by the Handicapper.
