Cheltenham Day 3 tips: Stayers' Hurdle The 2025 Cheltenham Festival heads into day three on Thursday with the feature race the Stayers’ Hurdle, which is scheduled to go off at 16:00. Set over three miles, a field of 15 have been declared for the prestigious event with defending champion Teahupoo leading the betting at 6/4 with Boylesports. Rocky’s Diamond has been progressing at a rate of knots and will have some interest at 14/1, while Willie Mullins’ sole entry, Mystical Power, is priced at 16/1. We have picked out three selections to keep an eye out for in this race. Cheltenham to be a Lucky Place for Henderson Given what happened to Constitution Hill and State Man in Tuesday’s Champion Hurdle, it’s safe to say there is never a ‘banker’ at the Cheltenham Festival and I wouldn’t fancy backing reigning champion Teahupoo at such short odds. Of Teahupoo’s 14 rivals, the Nicky Henderson-trained Lucky Place could be the most threatening and he makes solid appeal at 13/2. Henderson endured a dreadful 2024 Cheltenham Festival after his stable was hit by a virus problem, but Lucky Place was one of his few runners that ran with credit last year. The six-year-old finished fourth in the Coral Cup and his next two outings have both produced victories, claiming the spoils in the Grade 2 Howden Ascot Hurdle and then holding off Gowel Road in the Relkeel Hurdle at Cheltenham on New Year’s Day. Lucky Place has progressed into a smart graded performer and, with Nico de Boinville on board like he has been for the last two starts, this pair could combine for a hat-trick of wins. Spring to bring the best out of Langer Dan At slightly bigger odds, Langer Dan could be worth a look given his impressive record at the Cheltenham Festival. Dan Skelton’s charge has won back-to-back Coral Cups in the last two seasons, edging out An Epic Song by a head in 2023 before retaining his crown with a three and a half-length success over Ballyadam. The nine-year-old’s performances this year haven’t been much to write home about, with fifth-placed finishes at Cheltenham on New Year’s Day and Windsor 16 days later. But Langer Dan often saves his best performances for the spring and with course experience on his side, it would be no surprise to see him cross that finish line first. Monmiral worth an each-way look The final selection comes in the shape of Monmiral, who produced a brilliant effort to win the Pertemps Network Final Handicap Hurdle at last year’s Festival. Trained by Paul Nicholls, the eight-year-old was last seen when taking second in the Cleeve Hurdle at Cheltenham on Trials Day in January, finding only Gowel Road better on that day. While the stable’s form is a concern, Monmiral has shown he has the ability to get round this track and a patient ride from Harry Cobden could set up a grandstand finish.
