Cheltenham hope Lammtarra recovering well
Unbeaten novice hurdler Follow Lammtarra is back on course for next month`s Cheltenham Festival after an injury scare.
The Venetia Williams-trained gelding, who was a useful stayer on the Flat for Mick Channon, suffered a stone bruise at the end of last week and was forced to miss an intended engagement at Sandown on Friday.
However the injury has responded well to treatment and Williams revealed today that Follow Lammtarra may run later this week before a decision is made as to his Cheltenham target.
'It was a nuisance as it came at the wrong time,' said the trainer.
'Follow Lammtarra is entered in the Supreme Novices` and the SunAlliance at Cheltenham and I had wanted to run him before the forfeit stages today so that we would know which race to concentrate upon.
'But the good news is that he is making a quick recovery and we put the shoe back on yesterday.
'We have been able to keep him fit by swimming him every day since Saturday so he hasn`t lost out on any exercise.
'He has an entry at Kempton at the end of the week and he could go there. I would like to get another run into him as he needs plenty of experience if he is to go for a bigger race.'
