It was a nice performance, hopefully now he’s just coming to himself,. I think he should improve again for a bit of nicer ground as the spring goes on. The final of this series in Punchestown is going to be the big aim for him. We had him qualified already and this race just fitted in nicely. It was a taking performance and it was nice to see him hit the line the way he did. The first day we drew a line through it. We bounced out to make all and he didn’t have the experience under his belt to manage with it, and his jumping was terrible on the day. We’ve ironed that out since. We’ve sat on our hands for as long as we could waiting for nicer ground but it didn’t materialise so we ended up getting him out today and taking a chance. Emmet Mullins, trainer

The Raceday Stewards enquired into the running and riding of Somersby Roost, ridden by P.T. Enright, and trained by Oliver McKiernan. Evidence was heard from the rider and trainers representative Alfonso Vidal. P.T. Enright said his instructions were to drop his mount in and get her to relax, creep into the race and try to get her to come home well. He added he tried to follow the fancied horses into the straight and try to preserve his challenge until the run to the last which in his opinion helped his mount to obtain his best possible placing. Alfonso Vidal confirmed the instructions given and added that his charge was fit and well to run a good race. The Raceday Stewards also received a report from the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer who stated that the animal was of a nervous disposition but was clinically normal post race. Samples were taken for further analysis

Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards noted the explanations of both the rider and trainer

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Ryan's Son, trained by Liz Doyle, at the request of the Raceday Stewards and reported the animal to be one out of ten lame on its right hind post race.

A novice hurdle for four years old and upwards that are EBF eligible and which had been purchased as an unraced three or four year old at Public Auction under the hammer in Ireland or Great Britain for #45,000 or less at a recognised National Hunt Store Sale and that have not been purchased at Public Auction under the hammer in Ireland or Great Britain for any more than #45,000 at any time and that have not won a race under any N.H. Rules or Rules of Racing (excluding Academy Hurdles and 3-y-o Junior N.H. Hurdles) other than one I.N.H. flat race or N.H. flat race value not more than #12,000 and/or one hurdle race value not more than #12,500
