It looked like they went hard enough up front and I thought we had no chance for the majority of the race. We bought him in Goresbridge before Christmas and that’s his first run. We’re still trying to figure him out to be honest. I don’t think he was in love with the ground and, when he got him out onto the better ground up the straight, he rallied really well. He’ll definitely go further, and we’ll see what the handicapper does. It’s a great initiative to have one of these races (on a big day like this). It’s great for the owners.

The Raceday Stewards interviewed T. Power Roche, rider of Ar Nos Na Gaoithe, in relation to his riding in the closing stages where it appeared he may have stopped riding and lost a better finishing position. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who stated that his mount had no more to give and had made an abnormal respiratory noise close to the line, which he had reported to scales. Power Roche's explanation in relation to Rule 212 but they were satisfied that T. Power Roche was in breach of Rule 213, and having considered his clean record in this regard the Raceday Stewards suspended T. Power Roche for one raceday
The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Eikonix (GB), at the request of trainer, Bernard Martin Crowley, and reported the animal to be showing signs of delayed recovery post race.
