The form of his maiden hurdle win has stood up and his Killarney run was good enough to win this. Tom (O'Connor) is a lovely young fella, he comes in to me one day a week and he is going the right way. Sean and Brenda (Maguire, owners) are from Armagh and are huge supporters of my yard. Over the years they have hugely bought into this festival meeting and this is a huge buzz for them, as they have loads of friends here. We are blessed with our staff at home and they are all very good. You are always leaning on people in this game so it is great to see all the people getting a great kick from a winner from a local yard.

B.P. Kennedy, rider of Jake Peter, trained by M.A.Cahill, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount got a bump from the inside going down the back the first time and got unbalanced
P. Hanlon, rider of Kelly's Cosmos, trained by Eoin Christopher McCarthy, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount ran free
The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident shortly after the start involving Fast Felix, ridden by T.E
O'Connor, Jake Peter, ridden by B.P. Kennedy, and Kelly's Cosmos, ridden by P. Hanlon where it appeared Fast Felix got tight for room down the rail. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. T.E. O'Connor stated that it got tight after the road crossing and he bumped the rail. B.P. Kennedy stated that he received pressure from both sides. He further added that he was pushed in from his outside. P. Hanlon stated that his mount ran very keen and felt it was general bunching. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards did not apportion blame to any rider and took no further action.
An extended handicap hurdle for four years old and upwards (110 = 11st 12lbs)
Penalties - Winner of a hurdle race after calculation of the handicap shall carry 7lb extra for each hurdle race won.
Riders - Confined to Professional Riders under I.N.H.S. Rules who have not lost the right to claim the 7lb allowance under Rule 52. Allowances - (which are not cumulative, up to and including 21st September) Riders who have not ridden the winner of a *race allowed..........4lb; Those who have not ridden the winners of 5 *races allowed........2lb. No allowance to riders under Rule 52 may be claimed. *Including races under any N.H. Rules or Rules of Racing.
