Permission was given for Storm Flag (IRE) to wear a red hood to post.
An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference inside half a furlong out, involving the winner, Container Express (GB), ridden by Aiden Brookes and Yorkshire Queen (GB), placed second, ridden by Oliver Stammers.
The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved Container Express (GB)’s placing, although Yorkshire Queen (GB) had received a bump and was moved off her intended line, she appeared to suffer no appreciable loss of momentum and Stammers didn’t stop riding at any point to be beaten an extending neck at the line.
The Stewards could not be satisfied that, with an uninterrupted run to the line, Yorkshire Queen (GB) would have finished in front of Container Express (GB), and as such ordered the placings to remain unaltered.
The Stewards deemed the interference to be accidental as Container Express (GB) spooked and shifted quickly left-handed and in doing so bumped the runner up.
Approaching one furlong out, MEERSIDE PRINCESS (IRE), placed third, edged marginally right-handed at the same time as The Tunguska Event (IRE), placed fith shifted slightly left-handed, which caused both runners to become briefly unbalanced, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of MEERSIDE PRINCESS (IRE).
